Altus Group continues to invest in Queensland acquiring Aaction Traffic

ANZ’s largest and leading traffic management provider, Altus Group Holdings (Altus), has executed transaction documents to acquire 100% of Aaction Traffic (Action), one of Australia’s longest operating traffic management businesses.

The deal is scheduled to complete at the end of August. It is the Group’s second acquisition in QLD and fifth overall, following investments over the prior 2 years in NSW, VIC and NZ.

Led by CEO and Founder Ron Edwards since 1998, Action has built a strong reputation for delivery, particularly in the local government sector. Action is a business that is built on its people. From the day the business was founded, Ron and his team have sought to train, invest and create opportunities for their loyal employees and can boast of some of the lowest employee turnover rates in the industry.

Action will be fully integrated into the Altus Traffic QLD business over the coming months to ensure that both businesses can achieve their near-term growth potential together. Altus has already committed additional capital to expand the fleet in QLD following the commencement of a number of recent contracts.

Altus Group CEO Ben Marsonet said “I do love the focus Action has on its people” and was excited about the joint capacity of the two businesses in QLD. The transaction will see Altus’ workforce in QLD grow beyond 1200 staff providing unparalleled capability from the Gold Coast through to Cairns.

The investment in Action comes at a time when investment in QLD infrastructure remains strong and will be further underpinned by developments in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic Games along with other capacity building projects.

Outgoing Director Ron Edwards said “Action has been a huge part of my life for the last 26 years and I am excited for the future of the business under Altus ownership”.

“We are delighted to be handing the business over to Ben and his team. I’d like to thank the customers that have been so loyal to us over the journey and above all else, the amazing people, especially our traffic controllers, that have made this business what it is. We admire the values and integrity of the Altus business and think it will be a fantastic fit for our people and customers over the coming years.”

With the addition of Action to the Group, Altus now employs more than 5,000 people in 50 operating locations throughout Australia and New Zealand, reinforcing its position as a market leader. The acquisition, along with those that preceded it, provide additional opportunities for Altus to scale its recently launched Workzone Digitisation solution, creating a step change in roadworker safety and providing customers with new data and insights to drive operational excellence.
