Altus Group acquires Traffic Logistics

Leading Traffic Management company, Altus Group Holdings (Altus), has executed transaction documents to acquire 100% of Traffic Logistics (TL), a provider of traffic management services, with a focus on the maintenance sector in NSW.

The deal comes following Altus Group’s strategic acquisition of Traffic Diversions Group (TDG), Victoria’s largest provider of traffic management services in September 2022.

TL will be integrated as part of Altus, which is backed by leading private market investor, Pacific Equity Partners (PEP). Altus is chaired by Founder David Lundberg and led by Group CEO Ben Marsonet.

Traffic Logistics is a provider of traffic management services in NSW which employs approximately 700 staff and operates 300 vehicles across the Sydney, Illawarra and Hunter regions. The business has a strong reputation for high levels of service delivery and safety for the maintenance of some of NSW largest infrastructure assets including Westconnex, Northconnex and numerous other freeway and motorway style assets.

Altus Group CEO Ben Marsonet said the acquisition would materially support the company’s growth and provide increased capacity for the customers of both Altus and TL. The Altus business now boasts a workforce of approximately 3,700 staff, a fleet of 1,800 specialised vehicles and operations across 24 locations in Australia.

“This investment will help us to achieve our ambition to build the singularly most pre-eminent traffic management business in Australia. It means Altus can continue our relentless pursuit of the highest standards of efficiency and safety for our people and our clients, and for the road users and for general public who depend on us to get them home safely every day.

This investment in TL comes at an historically busy period for the industry and helps Altus realise its vision of providing its customers and communities the safest, most advanced and efficient work zones in Australia. It also gives the Altus business further geographic coverage ahead of the deployment of their new innovative digital safety technology later this year which aims to drive a generational change for the safety of roadworkers in Australia.”

Outgoing TL Directors Marc and Josh Sergi said Altus was the “logical owner for TL to guide it through its next stage”, noting Altus’ reputation and experienced management team.

“We are delighted that Altus have seen the potential in TL, and we look forward to working with Ben and the management team to grow TL and invest behind the amazing people that have built this business over the last 15 years. Altus’ reputation and values are closely aligned with TL’s, and we look forward to the partnership driving real change to the safety of our traffic controllers and providing increased capacity for our customer base.”

PEP Managing Director Matt Robinson said: “Traffic Logistics is a high-quality traffic management business and is a complimentary fit with the Altus Group. We are very pleased to support this acquisition.”
