NRSW 2020 was largely virtual, but still an amazing success

Occurring in November, rather than its usual date in May, the week was coordinated by the NSW Government and Transport for NSW, with major contributions from each of the other State Governments, Principal Partners and an increasing number of supporting organisations.

Now in its 9th year, NRSW has grown rapidly across the country, with State, Territory and Local Governments turning yellow for the Week, through the lighting of some of Australia’s most iconic buildings, bridges and structures in both cities and regional areas, the introduction of road safety policies, provision of grants, road safety launches and campaigns, as well as community and other road safety awareness events. These activities result in what has become a significant media and social media presence, all in support of improving road safety outcomes.

Key media results for the week include:

  • A television commercial narrated by Rove McManus

  • a fivefold increase in website traffic to roadsafetyweek.com.au

  • some 4,500 online pledges to drive so others survive

  • A potential online and broadcast media reach of 837m

In 2021, National Road Safety Week returns to its usual May dates, running from the 16 May to 23 May.

There are many ways to support the week and get involved.
