DRIVING INNOVATION WITH WORKZONE DIGITISATION

The Altus Group recently had the privilege of presenting its cutting-edge Workzone Digitisation solution at the WestConnex Control Room, demonstrating its role in enhancing safety and shaping driver behaviour on the M5 East. This milestone event, held in collaboration with Fulton Hogan Egis, highlighted the transformative impact of digital technology in workzone management.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS SINCE APRIL 2024 LAUNCH

 Since its deployment, Workzone Digitisation has delivered measurable improvements in safety and efficiency:

  • 12 km/h average speed reduction through the workzone;

  • 178 early incursion/breach alarms, providing crews with critical advance notice;

  • 59% of deployments recorded a cone strike, demonstrating the system’s ability to detect and alert on-site hazards;

  • 99.87% signage compliance across 192,822 signage hours, ensuring road users receive clear and accurate information.

 These statistics demonstrate the real-world impact of Workzone Digitisation, reinforcing its role in improving road safety and operational efficiency.

A GLOBAL COLLABORATION

The event was further enriched by the presence of the team from Ramudden Global and HRS, the developers behind this award-winning technology. Their visit provided an invaluable opportunity to witness first-hand the implementation of Workzone Digitisation in Australia and discuss its impacts globally.

Beth Lilford, Head of Digital for the Altus Group, led the presentation, engaging with key industry leaders, including the Fulton Hogan Trans Tasman Team, Downer, and the New Zealand Temporary Traffic Management Industry Steering Group. The discussion emphasised how Workzone Digitisation is setting new benchmarks for driver behaviour management and road safety on high-traffic motorways like the M5E.

 As adoption continues to grow, Altus Group remains committed to expanding its impact and driving innovation in traffic management technology. A special thanks to Fulton Hogan Egis for their early support in implementing this game-changing solution.
