Altus Group agrees to Acquire the Traffic Management Businesses of Warp Group in WA and QLD

ANZ’s largest and leading traffic management provider, Altus Group Holdings (Altus), has executed transaction documents to acquire 100% of the Warp Group’s Traffic Management businesses in both WA and QLD.

The deal is scheduled to complete at the end of September. It is the Group’s sixth acquisition in 2 years, following a number of business purchases and integrations in NSW, VIC, QLD and NZ.

Operated by Steve and Britt O’Dwyer, Warp has built a strong reputation for multi-segment with long standing contracts in utilities, road maintenance, infrastructure builds and local government. Warp is a business with a great team of people, including some outstanding leaders. Safety and high-quality fulfillment have been a hallmark of the company’s operations for many years and the acquisition will be an opportunity for those values to be expounded upon further.

Warp will be fully integrated into the Altus Traffic business over the coming months to ensure that both businesses can achieve their near-term growth potential together. Altus has already committed additional capital to expand the operating fleet in each of Warp’s markets following the commencement of a number of recent contracts and will further contribute to growth in employment with its recruitment systems.

Altus Group CEO Ben Marsonet said “We’ve known the Warp Group and its leadership for many years and have always admired their commitment to road worker safety and customer fulfillment. Their ongoing investment in systems and governance also speak highly to their commitment to building out a sustainable and reputable business.” The transaction will see the Altus Group’s workforce grow to well beyond 5,000 staff providing unparalleled capability across more than 50 operating regions.

The investment in Warp comes at a time when investment in road maintenance and infrastructure in these key markets look likely to benefit from strong tail winds, particularly in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane along with other capacity building projects in both States.

Warp’s Steve O’Dwyer said “I am of course pleased that we were able to do this transaction with the Altus Group. I’ve seen personally how that business has grown and developed over the last decade and have a strong affection for many of their people. They will be a great fit for our teams and customers and give us the capital needed for continued growth.”

“I also know the commitment they have to road worker safety, something that both Britt and I have supported through various association roles and a topic we have been passionate about throughout our time in industry. I’d like to thank the customers that we’ve had the pleasure of working with as well as the excellent people, especially our traffic controllers, that have made Warp what it is today.”

With the addition of Warp to the Group, Altus now employs close to 5,500 people in more than 50 operating locations throughout Australia and New Zealand, reinforcing its position as a market leader. The acquisition, along with those that preceded it, provide additional opportunities for Altus to scale its recently launched Workzone Digitisation solution, creating a step change in road worker safety and providing customers with new data and insights to drive operational excellence.
