Altus Group Holdings (Altus), has acquired 100% of Shield Traffic (Shield), a leading provider of traffic management services in regional Queensland. 

The deal comes following Altus Group’s strategic acquisitions of Traffic Diversions Group (Vic) and Traffic Logistics (NSW) earlier this year.  

Shield will be integrated as part of Altus, which is backed by leading private market investor, Pacific Equity Partners (PEP). Altus is chaired by Founder David Lundberg and led by Group CEO Ben Marsonet. 

Shield is a leading business in the Wide Bay and Rockhampton regions in Queensland and was purchased by the Rowe family in 2007. Shield has an exceptional reputation for service delivery across the region, working with state and local government clients to deliver essential maintenance activities across the region. 

Altus Group CEO Ben Marsonet said the acquisition would “create a fantastic opportunity to invest in the Wide Bay region” and bring additional capacity to the Group in regional Queensland. The Altus business now boasts a workforce of greater than 4,000 staff, a fleet of 2,200 specialised vehicles and operations across 30 locations in Australia. 

“This investment will help us continue to build upon our already strong foundations in regional Queensland. It means Altus has access to additional capacity and some immensely talented people to continue to grow and expand its impact across the state. 

This investment in Shield comes at a time where there are numerous growth opportunities in the region and allows Altus to continue to build upon the platform it has created. It also gives the Altus business further geographic coverage ahead of the deployment of their new innovative digital safety technology later this year which aims to drive a generational change for the safety of roadworkers in Australia.”
