Altus Group Agrees to Acquire the Traffic Management Businesses of Schramm Group in QLD

Australia and New Zealand’s largest and leading traffic management provider, Altus Group Holdings (Altus), has executed transaction documents to acquire 100% of Schramm Group’s Traffic Management businesses in Queensland. The deal is expected to complete subject to regulatory approvals.

The acquisition of Schramm Group would be Altus’ latest acquisition, following a number of key business purchases and integrations in NSW, VIC, QLD, WA and NZ.

Operated by David Schramm, Schramm Group has built a strong reputation for high levels of customer service and holds long standing contracts in utilities, road maintenance, infrastructure builds and local government. Schramm is a business with a great team of people, including some outstanding leaders and highly skilled traffic controllers. Safety and high-quality service have been a hallmark of the company’s operations for many years and the acquisition will be an opportunity for those values to be built upon further. In addition to its core traffic control business, Schramm also operates Line Marking and Guardrail divisions which will be key growth areas for Altus over the coming years.

Schramm Group will be integrated into the Altus Traffic business in late 2025 to ensure that both businesses can achieve their near-term growth potential together. Altus has already committed additional capital to expand the operating fleet in Schramm Group’s markets following the commencement of a number of recent contracts and will further contribute to growth in employment with its recruitment systems.

Altus Group CEO Ben Marsonet said “David Schramm is a highly regarded traffic management professional and operator, with extensive experience and contributions to industry. We’ve known the Schramm Group and its leadership for many years and have always admired their commitment to road worker safety and customer service. Their ongoing investment in fleet and training speaks highly to their commitment to building out a sustainable and leading business.’ The transaction would see the Altus Group grow to provide unparalleled capability across more than 55 operating regions.

The investment in Schramm Group comes at a time when investment in road maintenance and infrastructure in Queensland looks likely to benefit from strong tail winds, particularly in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane along with other capacity building projects across Queensland.

David Schramm said “I am very pleased that we have completed this transaction with the Altus Group. Having personally watched their business grow and develop over the past decade, I hold many of their people in high regard. I believe they will be an excellent fit for our teams and customers, and their involvement will provide the capital needed for our continued growth.”

“Altus has a strong commitment to roadworker safety and this is an area I have actively supported in various roles and remain passionate about from my time in the industry. I also want to extend my sincere thanks to the customers we have had the privilege to serve, and to our excellent people – particularly our traffic controllers – who have built the Schramm Group into the company it is today.”

Altus Group acquisitions provide significant opportunities for Altus to scale its ground-breaking Workzone Digitisation solution, creating a step change in roadworker safety and providing customers with new data and insights to drive operational excellence.
